ALR International and SunSoft ASEAN have signed a strategic partnership that will see ALR's high-end systems bundled with SunSoft's Solaris for x86 client/server operating environment throughout ASEAN.

The partnership makes ALR one of the first PC companies to declare its support for the Solaris operating environment.

In the process, ALR's high-end desktop systems have been optimised to run Solaris and are positioned as effective workstation alternatives.

The ALR VL local bus-ready personal workstations bundled with Solaris for x86 include the 486-based Evolution IV 4/66d and the Pentium-based Evolution V, as well as the latest Evolution V ST P/66 - all of which have been optimised to run Solaris.

ALR's top of the line EISA local bus system, the Evolution VQ P/66, will be offered with Solaris Workgroup Server as well.

ALR customers now can take advantage of a wide range of 32-bit application software available for the Solaris platform.

In addition, SunSoft is also offering its WABI technology that will enable the customers to run shrink-wrapped Windows applications under Solaris for x86.
