Education in the sky

The Aviation Discovery Centre at the new terminal in Chek Lap Kok Airport has launched an education programme aimed at strengthening students' knowledge of the air transport industry.

Consisting of a tour around the well-equipped aviation museum and a series of workshops on aerodynamics and logistics, the Multimedia School Programme adopts an interactive approach to introducing aviation concepts to students.

Participants on the one-day programme can choose from a series of workshops after the tour to take hands-on lessons in aviation.

In the workshops, participants are asked to make use of the knowledge they have acquired from the tour to complete tasks on the spot.

Challenges such as constructing miniature aircraft based on simple physics and aerodynamics theories are designed to arouse students' interest.

Those interested in the workings of the nearby 4D cinema can opt for the workshop on 3D technology, which features hands-on visual experiments illustrating how the human brain interprets three dimensional images with the help of specialist glasses.

The programme runs from Monday to Sunday. Interested schools can call the centre on 3559 1070 for group bookings.
