Derek Fung's hopes of making the final rounds were cruelly dashed as he failed to make the cut by the narrowest of margins. Fung, who fired an encouraging 68 on day one, carded a second-round 72 to miss the weekend action by just a single stroke. 'It's very disappointing,' said Fung. 'I felt I played well enough to make it through, but it wasn't to be.' A double bogey at the seventh, where he found a lateral water hazard, and back-to-back bogies at the 15th and 16th proved costly. 'I leaked a bit of oil coming in,' admitted Fung, Hong Kong's best finisher at this year's event. 'I've been around long enough to try and not think about the cut, but I had my chances and felt calm all day. It's a shame.' Hong Kong's second-best finisher was David Freeman who had a second successive two-over-par 72 to finish on four-over.
