More than 38,000 people turned up at the Chek Lap Kok headquarters of the Government Flying Service yesterday for an open day. They watched a thrilling demonstration of low-level formation flying by two Jetstream 41 planes for the first time, along with various displays of rescue operations by Dolphin and Super Puma helicopters. Other performances included shows put on by the police dog unit and the civil aid service's motorcycle team. It also attracted some aviation fans who gathered along the runway to capture the planes at close range with their cameras. It was only the second open day since the flying service was established in 1993.
