The 20 groups of students then started their journey. In the hall, the first things they found were The masquerade exhibition and the liberal studies corner, which quickly grasped the visitors' attention.

After that things became extraordinarily spooky.

Forty students wearing self-made masks shouted 'Happy Halloween'.

All were amazed by the realistic recreations of ghosts and vampires.

The classrooms were decorated in the fashion of graveyards, haunted houses and candy houses. One was converted into a maze that created chaos and excitement among all who entered.

However, the frightened visitors were soon soothed by the school's prize-winning symphonic band and its Chinese orchestra. After the musical performance, the visitors were given Halloween handicrafts as a gift.

They were sad to leave when the time came. They could only leave their footprints behind in the five letters of our school - TWGSS - created from students' photos.

Their memories won't fade as they all left with copies of the school's EMI booklet and DVD, The Best for The Best - Our Legend Continues, in their hands.

Hong Kong Juniors Chess Championships 2007

The Hong Kong Juniors Chess Championships 2007, organised by the Hong Kong Chess Federation, took place on November 10 and 11 at the Kowloon Technical School.

There were 176 participants in four sections and many parents were present to show their support.

The under-18 and under-13 sections were played over two days while the under-10 and under-seven sections were held on Sunday.

The under-18 section was highly competitive. Dominic Chan, a Sha Tin College student, emerged victorious.

Hubert Au won gold in the under-13 event.

There was high drama in the under-10 section as the top four players finished with six points each. Eventually, Guy Cheng was awarded the gold.

The champion of the under-seven section was Wong Yee-chit.

The event proved a great success and has grown more and more popular among Hong Kong youth over the years.

Trophies and certificates were distributed to the winners of all the sections.

Tin Ka Ping Secondary School

The school held its Chinese Culture Award Scheme Prize-giving Ceremony on October 26 to recognise students' effort and encourage them.

We interviewed one group of students who won the gold medal.

'We love Chinese culture,'' one of them said. 'It's mysterious and glamorous.

'As we are Chinese, I think everyone should immerse in the culture.'

Unfortunately, some students did not take part in the activities and lost the opportunity to learn more about our wonderful culture.

'We hope they will take part in the activities next year so they can discover how wonderful Chinese culture is!' said another participant.

Students who received the silver medal in the Chinese Culture Promotion Project said they like western culture more than Chinese culture.

We think as Chinese, we should promote our magnificent culture.

We should be proud of our identity and culture.
