A 69-year-old man who had been reported missing was talked out of hanging himself on a Sai Kung hillside by two passers-by while the rope was round his neck, and persuaded to go home. The man had stormed out of his flat in Ho Chung Road at about 12.40am after a trivial row with his wife, also 69. She called police and a search was mounted with the help of a Government Flying Service helicopter but failed to find him. He returned home safely at about 4am. Police said he had red marks on his neck and was treated in hospital.
