Car careens across footpath

A courier escaped serious injury when a driver stepped on the accelerator instead of the brake while trying to park her car and careered across a footpath in Carnarvon Road, Tsim Sha Tsui. The car struck the courier, who suffered minor arm injuries, and crashed into a boutique. The woman's son, three, was treated for minor head injuries.

29 arrested in vice raid

Police arrested 29 people in an anti-vice operation in Yuen Long. All but two were women from the mainland who were arrested for breaching their conditions of stay. A Hong Kong woman was arrested for soliciting for an immoral purpose and a local man for operating a vice establishment. The investigation continues.

Boy arrested for false report

Police arrested a boy, 14, for wasting police time after he made a false report that he had been robbed and knocked unconscious. It turned out the teenager had had a dispute with a relative and dumped his belongings on a hillside. He was released on HK$500 bail.

Man flees immigration check

Immigration officers were searching for a mainland man who dodged a counter at the Shun Tak Centre's border checkpoint, jumped into the sea and disappeared. The man had been denied entry into Macau on Wednesday night and was forced to return to Hong Kong.

Man injured jumping from bus

A 22-year-old mentally retarded man was injured when he jumped from a moving minibus in Tseung Kwan O. The man opened the bus doors and jumped on Po Lam Road North at 5.30pm after realising he had boarded the wrong minibus. He was in stable condition in Tseung Kwan O Hospital last night.

No one won the first prize in last night's draw. The numbers were 1, 12, 29, 39, 40 and 48. The extra number was 41. Five tickets each won second prize of HK$343,190. Third prize paid HK$51,410.
