Christmas rapping with an OutKast

You never know who you might run into at IFC. Last Thursday, in between attending two separate events - one was the release of the third edition of the Word Of Mouth (WOM) restaurant guide, edited by Fergus Fung and Samanta Pong, and the other the mall's Christmas tree unveiling in the atrium, with lots of children singing and Vivian Chow Wai-man officiating a holiday campaign to raise funds for a charity for children of single parents - CitySeen noticed a plainly dressed, but familiar looking African-American shopper without a hurry in the world.

A quick Google of the brain and we politely asked, 'Hey, aren't you Andre 3000?'

A quick nod and an outstretched hand confirmed this was one half of the popular hip hop/R&B group OutKast, real name Andre Lauren Benjamin (above), known for hits like Hey Ya! and Roses. It seems the singer is here sourcing and talking to suppliers for a new men's clothing line he is starting.

'It's going to be called Benjamin Bixby,' he informed us. 'Watch out for it.' He didn't specify why he was hanging around the mall. Perhaps he was scouting a shop location.
