The Caped Crusader has another challenge to tackle - from environmental crusaders in Hong Kong.

Friends of the Earth has written to Warner Bros asking it to offset the carbon footprint left by its crew when shooting the latest Batman film, The Dark Knight, in the city.

It issued the challenge after some activists queried the movie company's demand to ask shops and offices to switch on their lights at night to achieve the best effects.

The group's environmental affairs manager, Hahn Chu Hon-keung, said: 'Since we are an international city, we should also have international horizons. The government should be brave enough to ask the movie company to take its pollutants away or compensate for it.'

Appreciating the company's policy in general, he questioned if it adopted double standards in Hong Kong. The group is waiting for a reply.
