HK$300,000 offered in murder manhunt
A HK$300,000 reward is being offered to find the killer who hacked a couple to death in front of their eight-year-old son and the woman's elderly mother in Sham Shui Po last year.
The reward notice was accompanied by a photograph of mainlander Zhou Xipeng, 44, who is wanted over the murder of his former lover Wu Pui, 33, and her husband Koon Man-kin, 36, in March last year.
Police have sought the help of mainland authorities to track down Zhou as investigations indicated he had fled Hong Kong and taken refuge across the border, a police investigator said.
'We are offering the reward in the hope of gathering more information in connection with the case.'
According to the reward notice, Zhou is the holder of mainland identity card No 522101631002361 and two-way permit No W139465762. He is 1.7 metres tall and of strong build.
It is understood the man is also known as He Lilin, 39, under another mainland identity.
The killer used a wig to disguise himself as a woman when he followed Wu's son and mother, 65, into Shiu Hing Building in Yee Kuk Street at 3.25pm on March 13 last year. The boy and elderly woman were held at knifepoint and forced to enter their flat before being tied up.
Police said the killer waited in the flat until Wu and Koon returned home five hours later at 8.30pm to launch his bloody attack.
The culprit fled after the attack. The boy and his grandmother untied themselves and called police.
Wu and Koon were taken to Caritas Medical Centre, where they were declared dead.
The grandmother suffered a minor arm injury. The boy was uninjured but witnessed the killings.
