Pupils learn dangers of drug abuse
DRUG education has become part of many school's curriculum in an effort to cut narcotics abuse among pupils, the Secretary for Security, Alistair Asprey, said.
The lessons provided information on substance abuse, emphasised the development of healthy and positive attitudes and taught how to handle peer pressure and make wise decisions.
There were also regular school talks by the Narcotics Division in all secondary schools and to Primary 6 Students to reinforce the message, Mr Asprey said.
Guidelines on how to handle drug abuse cases were being drafted by the Education Department.
They would cover the indications of drug addiction, preventive and other measures to deal with problems in school and also the resources and support available to schools.
