Woman driver charged after pedestrian, 70, killed
A woman was arrested for dangerous driving causing death after she lost control of her car yesterday, killing an elderly man and injuring a woman in Shau Kei Wan. The 45-year-old woman, surnamed Ng, was driving her son to school when the crash happened in A Kung Ngam Road at 6.55am. Fok Bing-kwan, 70, was declared dead in hospital at 10.10am. The woman, 55, was discharged after treatment for head injuries. The unhurt driver passed a breathalyser test but was arrested for dangerous driving causing death. She was granted police bail last night. Witness can call police on 3106 8838 or 3106 8800.
Company chief's bailed extended
The chief executive of listed ointment maker Pak Fah Yeow International, who was arrested for allegedly molesting a taxi driver in October, has had his bail extended. Stephen Gan Fock-wai, 46, nicknamed the Prince of White Flower Oil, will have to report to police again on December 29. Mr Gan was arrested on October 10 on suspicion of molesting a taxi driver as Gan was being driven to his Park Towers flat in Tin Hau.
Street sleepers found dead
Two unidentified street sleepers died in Sham Shui Po and Tai Kok Tsui. A man in his 50s to 60s was found in front of a store in Cheung Sha Wan Road at 9.45am. Another man of about the same age was found unconscious in a playground in Sycamore Street at the same time. He was confirmed dead in hospital. Police said there was nothing suspicious in either case.
Falling water bottle hits girl
An 11-year-old girl was hit by a falling bottle of water in the playground of the Portuguese Community School in Cox's Road, Yau Ma Tei, yesterday. The Primary Four pupil was taking part in a PE class with about 20 classmates when two plastic bottles fell into the playground, one of which hit her arm. She was treated for minor injuries at Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
