All the fun of a fashion show, and no glitterati or size zero in sight

Hong Kong-based sisters Agnes Caer-Piras and Caroline Caer wanted their first jewellery show to be something special. Instead of wasting money on stupid stuff like celebrities with phoney smiles, the French siblings, who started Calamansi Bijoux three years ago, decided they'd rather have their friends model for the event.

The result was a packed Harvey Nichols' second floor with lots of people genuinely having fun and excited to see their friends, family and daughters strutting their stuff on the catwalk. In fact, beyond the whoops, cheers and hollers, one of the sisters even got a little misty-eyed at the goings-on.

'We wanted everyone to dress differently, have different make-up, but most of all smile and have fun,' Caer-Piras said. 'But when I saw my daughter and then my mother out there, I nearly cried.' Thirteen other 'real women' got a chance to live out a fashion fantasy. What they lacked in the standard model size zero, they made up for in enthusiasm.

As for doing something special? Mission accomplished.
