15 months' jail for evading HK$2m tax bill

Businessman Yu Hin-man was jailed for 15 months and fined HK$1.306 million yesterday for evading more than HK$2 million in taxes. The District Court heard Yu, 49, sole proprietor of Hin Lee Plastic Silk Screen Printing Adv. Co, told his part-time accountant to inflate the value of purchases. He also fabricated invoices and delivery orders to cover up the inflated values. Profits were understated by HK$17,640,070 and HK$2,616,742 in tax was evaded. Yu was convicted of 10 counts of tax evasion.
