The Leaf light is a shining example of how environmentally friendly designs can look good. Developed by Herman Miller in conjunction with Yves Behar, the product is light and energy efficient: the lamp's LED apparently has a lifespan of 60,000 hours and uses 40 per cent less power than does a typical 13-watt compact fluorescent bulb. It's also cool to the touch. Proprietary technology does away with the need for a motorised fan to dissipate heat. The Leaf, which costs about HK$4,500, comes in red, white, nickel and black and will be available from the end of this month at Aluminium (19 Lyndhurst Terrace, Central, tel: 2546 5904).
