Disability discrimination complaints to the Equal Opportunities Commission relating to sick leave increased 82 per cent from last year. The commission yesterday reported 109 such complaints in the first 11 months of the year, compared to 60 in the same period last year. Some complainants claimed they were penalised in their annual appraisals and bonuses after taking long periods of sick leave.
