Inmate critical after suicide attempt

Staff saved a 31-year-old inmate who tried to commit suicide in his cell at Stanley Prison yesterday. The man, surnamed Liu, was found hanging from a bed sheet tied to a bar on the window of his cell at about 6am. He was given first aid by staff before being sent to Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital, where he remained in critical condition last night. The prisoner was jailed for 13 years for trafficking in a dangerous drug.
