Trial therapy: Pre-party skin toning treatment

What is it?

A facial that uses a gentle scrub to exfoliate the skin and multiple masks to rehydrate and firm.

What does it involve?

Using only Organic Pharmacy products, the therapist begins by cleansing your face with a soft muslin cloth before applying a fine scrub in slow, circular movements. After your skin is clean and smooth, she begins applying the first of a series of hydrating and antioxidant masks to your face and neck, washing each mask off before the applying the next using the cloth.

What's good about it?

The therapist first explained what products she would use so she wouldn't have to disturb me during the treatment. She then led me to a well-designed treatment room and gave me a satin robe to change into.

She was thorough and applied a firm yet soothing pressure as she massaged the masks into my face. As each mask set, she massaged my neck, shoulders and chest using a calming essential oil. The fact she used the muslin cloth each time meant my skin got extra exfoliation.

After she finished applying the masks, she smoothed an anti-ageing and antioxidant gel and serum mixture onto my face before applying sunscreen. By the end, my skin was glowing and smooth.

What could be improved?

The spa is new, and the staff seemed a little unsure of what they were doing. Although I had booked the treatment, they had to ask me again what treatment I wanted and kept trying to push me to go for a pricier package. Also, the catalogue promises a three-minute hot towel foot cleansing and five minute back massage prior to every treatment, which I didn't get.

How much and where is it?

It costs HK$920 for one hour at Farm The Organic Spa, 5/F Baskerville House, 3 Duddell Street, Central. Tel: 2866 8238.
