Icy treat

Even if you're not in the market for a new refrigerator, it's worth popping into Sub-Zero's new flagship store (5A Hoi Ping Road, Causeway Bay, tel: 2915 0250) for design inspiration. The work of local architect Norman Chan, the showroom features oak cabinets that rotate 180 degrees to reveal the company's products. Besides the cold units, the use of volcanic stone for the flooring and yellow granite for the walls is another highlight. Two new items to check out are the PRO 48 fridge (above right; HK$180,000), apparently the largest on the market for home use, and the I430 wine cellar (HK$64,500), which holds up to 147 bottles on shelves that glide out without disturbing the bottles' contents.
