Few young job-seekers use service
The Labour Department has been urged to step up promotion of its employment service after a survey found only 21 per cent of job seekers aged between 15 and 30 had used it. The Youth Concern Group of the Confederation of Trade Unions polled 311 people in Tuen Mun, Yuen Long and Tin Shui Wai between July and November. About half said they found the department's employment service unhelpful. Concern group member Kenny Chu urged the department to publicise the employment service more and to set up a counter for young job seekers at each job centre.
