In your closet: Donna Chown

Wardrobe staple?

La Perla lingerie.

What would you never throw out?

My wedding dress.

Fashion no-nos?

Mismatched underwear.

Must-have accessory?

I always wear a watch, which is ironic as I'm generally late.

Most cherished fashion items?

So many, but the ones closest to my heart are the jewellery pieces given to me by my husband.

Most expensive fashion item?

Probably my wedding dress, designed and made by Patrick Steele, a fellow Kiwi.

Favourite designer(s)?

Dolce & Gabbana, Chloe, Chanel, Michael Kors and Escada - quite a diverse bunch but I enjoy having a variety of outfits.

Bag pick for the winter?

A Chanel patent leather bag that I bought in Las Vegas.

Boot pick for the season?

Black patent Jimmy Choo Seville ankle boot.

Favourite shoe designer?

Jimmy Choo. I love their designs and they seem to fit my feet perfectly. It's one of the few stores in Hong Kong that stock size 41.

Flats or stilettos?

Before I had my son 11 months ago, it was stilettos, but now I have invested in a few flats.

Favourite winter trend?

Long leather gloves.

What do you buy every winter?

A new winter coat.

What's on your 'most wanted' list?

A sable coat I saw in Lane Crawford. It's expensive though!

Style icon?

Coco Chanel. She was a true icon and her legacy lives on to this day. Chanel designs are timeless.

High-end or high street?

I never seem to find a bargain at high street shops and they never fit me. I'm really fussy about cut and fabric quality, so high-end.

Fashion disaster?

I'm sure there have been many, but it's all about attitude. I believe with the right frame of mind you can carry off any outfit.

Favourite winter fashion accessories?

Long leather gloves, ankle boots and my Chanel belt.

What kind of coats will you be wearing this winter?

A mink capelet in muted brown tones. It's perfect for Hong Kong and looks great with jeans and eveningwear.

Your fashion style?

I love elegant lines, perfect tailoring and beautiful fabrics, and, of course, all outfits must be finished with a nice pair of shoes, a matching handbag and a watch.

Best kept fashion secret?

The best shore repairer is in Worldwide House. He has been repairing my shoes for 20 years.

Name three things you can't do without in your wardrobe.

A nice, crisp white shirt, a well-cut pair of trousers and a perfectly tailored black dress, tailored jeans and of course, my Jimmy Choos. That makes five things.

Personal style philosophy?

Wear what makes you happy and be comfortable.
