Remembering Hong Kong by tingling your taste buds

While most nostalgic programmes about collective memory call for the preservation of visual and audio artefacts, a new programme launched by The Commercial Press to cherish bygone days is certain to tingle taste buds.

Those Were the Tastes - Collection of Memories is appealing to the public to submit mementos about food and dining.

By posting the collected items on the internet, the bookshop intends to create an online food album that will appeal to our culinary senses.

From a vintage photo showing customers in an old Chinese restaurant and the menu for your parents' wedding banquet to a family recipe passed down from your great-grandparents, the collectibles can be anything related to food and eating.

The chosen works will be posted online.

The owners of the chosen items will receive The Book of Food.

Those who want to share with others their fond food memories can e-mail the vintage items to patricklee@commercialpress. com.hk or post them to the publicity department of Commercial Press at 8/F, Eastern Central Plaza, 3 Yiu Hing Road, Shau Kei Wan, Hong Kong.

Please write 'Those Were the Tastes - Collection of Memories' on the envelope.
