Gang steals HK$5m in phone parts

Five to six robbers disguised as delivery workers escaped with HK$5 million worth of mobile phone components from a Fanling warehouse after tying up a security guard yesterday. Detectives are investigating whether the gang had inside help. The holdup occurred at about 1.45am, less than five hours after 400 boxes of mobile phone components were delivered to the Fan Kam Road site on Tuesday night.

Prison officers seize contraband

Prison officers seized magazines, betting notes, gambling instruments and self-made razor blades in a raid at Pak Sha Wan Correctional Institution. Eight prisoners were removed from the general population after a search by 70 officers.

Man with air pistol arrested

Police arrested a man during a routine stop and search in Temple Street, Yau Ma Tei, after he was found to be carrying an air pistol at 1.45pm. He was being held for questioning last night.

Suspected drug traffickers held

Four suspected drug traffickers have been arrested in an ambush in Wan Chai, with police seizing HK$370,000 worth of illegal drugs at three flats in the district. The arrests were made on Tuesday. The three women and a man, aged between 23 and 35, were being held for questioning.

Five pupils treated after crash

Five kindergarten pupils were treated in hospital for shock after a collision between their school bus and a delivery van at the junction of Yi Pei Chuen Road and Lo Wai Road, Tsuen Wan, at 12.45pm. Two boys and three girls, aged four and five, were treated at Yan Chai Hospital.

Robbery of prostitute alleged

A 24-year-old man accused of stealing HK$3,000 from a prostitute on December 22 will appear in Kowloon City Court today charged with one count of robbery. He was arrested in Yau Ma Tei on Monday.
