Let KJ in on Dream Team II

AS a basketball fan, I felt disappointed when I found out that neither KJ (Kevin Johnson) nor Muggsy Bogues is named to the US basketball Dream Team II to replace injured Tim Hardaway. Both are young and well deserved to play in the World Championships later this year in Toronto.

Instead, it is Detroit Piston point guard Isiah Thomas who is named to the renowned team. KJ is the type of person who can lead the team to new heights, while Muggsy is the one who possesses both superb court vision and passing skills.

Isiah has played in the NBA for 12 seasons. Isiah's career has been downsliding ever since Detroit won back-to-back championships from '89 to '90. Not only has his shooting percentage dropped dramatically, but also his assist-to-turnover ratio. He is not the kind of player that he was three years ago. Right now, his Pistons are suffering one of the worst seasons in the NBA.

Rumours say that Isiah is named just because he had already stirred up too many critics for not being elected to the Olympic-gold winning Dream Team I.

Isiah should hang up his sneakers and return the eligibility to young talents.
