Chance to move up the ranks with Otis Elevator

Here's a chance to join one of the world's largest manufacturers and maintainers of people-moving products, including lifts, escalators and moving walkways.

Otis Elevator, a wholly owned subsidiary of United Technologies, is looking for a senior sales engineer because of business expansion.

'The ideal candidate should be professional, aggressive, self-motivated, customer focused and have a strong desire to succeed in a sales career,' said Carrie Mak, senior human resources manager at Otis.

Duties will include growing the maintenance, modernisation and repair businesses in the commercial, retail, residential and industrial markets, expanding the customer base and maintaining good customer relationships.

She said the candidate would be 'one of the core members to drive business growth, dealing with a wide variety of customers and getting involved in complex and technical projects'.

'We are looking for candidates who fit in with our corporate culture by focusing on their values, personal traits, behaviour and matching of mindset.'

Someone with a degree in marketing, or the equivalent, with at least five years' sales oriented experience is sought. A candidate with strong selling skills and experience in selling products in a service industry is encouraged to apply, although a background in the lift industry is advantageous.

'The most important thing is that they have a strong commitment and determination as well as potential leadership qualities to succeed at Otis,' she said.

Other duties include reviewing market data to formulate service sales strategy, develop sales proposals and assist in collection of service receivables from customers.
