Hong Kong's last hope in the Malaysia Super Series ended yesterday when Wang Chen suffered a straight-sets loss to Zhu Lin of China in the women's singles quarter-finals. Having lost to the mainlander at the world championship final when they met last August, Wang was again unable to find a winning formula, going down 21-10, 21-11. Zhu has become something of a jinx for SAR shuttlers in the tournament, scoring three consecutive wins over Hong Kong players before moving into today's semi-finals. The world champion overcame Yip Pui-yin in the opening round, followed by another victory over Zhou Mi before her rout against Wang last night.
