Four final-year City University Community College students have put their communications skills to the test by organising an inter-university photo competition.

The 'Capture Your Dream' contest is the brainchild of four associate degree students, co-organised with financial company MassMutual.

As part of their final-year project, the students were asked to run a public event to practise their knowledge of the business world.

Portia Lee Ming-yi said the competition aimed to encourage students to envisage their dream.

The organisers say they have received about 100 entries so far.

Brooklyn Chan Tsz-fai, 22, said they had proposed the idea to three other companies before getting a positive reply from MassMutual.

'We learnt many things we could not find in our textbooks during the many negotiations with different parties,' Mr Chan said.

'We learnt how to make our points more persuasive. Usually companies are busy. The lesson is that to maximise the chance of getting responses, we have to keep our words short and to the point.'

The deadline for entries, which should have a caption of 100 words, is February 15. Submissions, marked 'Capture your Dream', should be sent to 13/F, Harcourt House, 39 Gloucester Road, Wan Chai.
