Zhou Mi beat Chinese powerhouse Zhang Ning for the first time in their last eight match-ups yesterday to move into the semi-finals at the Korea Open Super Series event in Seoul. Zhou had last beaten the world number two at the 2004 All-England Championships. This time, the Hong Kong shuttler beat the Athens Olympic Games singles champion in straight sets, 21-19, 23-21, and will meet South Korean Jun Jae-yuan today for a place in the final. However, Hong Kong's top player, Wang Chen, failed in another quarter-final, beaten by third seed Lu Lan of China in three sets, 21-18, 11-21, 21-18.
