Temperatures dipped as low as 4 degrees Celsius at Ngong Ping on Lantau Island and below 10 degrees in most parts of Hong Kong yesterday, with the Observatory issuing a cold-weather warning at about 4pm. The chill is expected to continue for a week, with temperatures ranging between 12 and 17 degrees as a cold northeastern monsoon affects coastal areas of southern China. Today's minimum will be about 12 degrees in urban areas and 2 to 3 degrees lower in the New Territories. The maximum will be about 16 degrees.
