Macau pork supplies threat
Supplies of fresh pork to Macau look set to be halted today in a row between retailers and suppliers. The number of live pigs imported from the mainland fell yesterday to 84 from  330, with suppliers saying this was due to bad weather on the mainland.  After an emergency meeting, retail group Iong Hap Tong decided to  stop buying until the number of imported live pigs rose to 130 a day.
New cruise advisers
Appointments to the Advisory Committee on the Cruise Industry for one-year terms include Anthony Lau Chun-hon,  executive director of the Hong Kong Tourism Board; David Chua Ming Huat,  president of Star Cruises; and Ronnie Ho Pak-ting,  chairman of the Travel Industry Council of Hong Kong. A Commerce and Economic Development Bureau spokesman said the members  would advise on measures for developing the city into a leading regional cruise hub.
Lawmaker urges tax credit
Unionist legislator Lee Cheuk-yan  urged the government to return wealth to the public, with a tax credit for all employees. Speaking on the RTHK radio programme Letter to Hong Kong, he also called for an increase in public-sector recurrent spending to help the poor.
Talks on holiday visits
Tourism Commissioner Au King-chi  will  hold talks with the mainland on arrangements for visitors from across the border travelling to Hong Kong for the Lunar New Year.
