Achievements Pak-long, 17, has played for South China's reserve team for almost a year. The centre forward was named Most Valuable Player (MVP) in the under-17 category of the Nike HK Youth League at the Manchester United Premier Cup last year.

During the finals, he scored two goals to help his Yeun Long team win the match 2-1.

He was also part of the Hong Kong squad that took part in the Schools Interport Football Championships last year. It was his first chance to represent Hong Kong and he didn't disappoint the selectors, playing a key role to help his team clinch the crown.

Soundbite 'I started playing football when I was 10 years old,' said Pak-long.

'I played with my brother and friends. Gradually, the interest grew. I kept on practising and luckily I was picked by the South China team to play in the reserve division.

'I love playing football mainly because of the team spirit. I love my teammates and I met lots of good friends on the field.

'I'm still green. I have a lot of shortcomings which I need to improve.

'My idol is Steven Gerrard of Liverpool. He's a great midfielder and shows brilliant leadership as captain. He is also very good with his free kicks.'

From his coach 'Yan is a quality player. He has very good discipline. He always attends training on time even though he lives in a remote area,' said coach Wu Wan-kwok.

'We can see that he really loves playing football as he doesn't mind travelling for at least three hours every day to come for training. I believe he has great potential.'

Ambitions 'Being a professional football player is my dream. I'm not sure whether I can make it but I will work hard to achieve my goal,' said Pak-long.
