Logistics group seeks dynamic manager who is up to the task of starting operation from scratch

Climb your way to the top in this newly created position that promises a wealth of experience.

B&W Group Asia is calling on applicants for the position of logistics manager to co-ordinate and monitor shipments from the Asia warehouse to the Asia-Pacific distributors.

The group has undergone rapid development in the past three to four years, leading to an expansion in organisation and roles.

'Our next step is that we want to consolidate the Asia-Pacific logistics out of Hong Kong, currently handled out of Britain,' said chief executive Lars Hundborg.

'To handle that, we need a logistics manager.'

The candidate must be a pioneer to help set up a logistics department.

The role is important to the company, according to Mr Hundborg, because it can help save money by supplying from the Asia warehouse, in turn increasing customer services as communication can happen in real time.

Responsibilities would include receiving and processing orders from distributors in the region, co-ordinating with the British headquarters, arranging shipments to distributors and assisting in forecast procedures, monitoring sales, stock reports and distributor accounts.

Someone with at least five years of experience in the logistics industry is sought.

'Our ideal candidate is a pioneer, we look more at the personality and the person has to fit our dynamic team,' he said. 'We want a person who has ambition and wants to increase their skills and wants to be a manager, managing a department.'

The person must have experience in handling logistics within Asia and be proactive with a dynamic personality. For the right person, this is a growth opportunity in an internationally renowned company, he said.

The group wanted an achiever with a winner's attitude and the job would prove to be a rewarding one.

'The highlight of the job is starting something from scratch and it's like your own baby that you watch grow. We have very limited logistics knowledge in the Hong Kong office today, so you come in and fully influence [its operations],' he said.

'And the day it is running successfully, you can say, well yes, I did it, it's mainly because of me.'

But rewards came with challenges and he said that this job would not be easy so the candidate must be prepared.

'The challenge is to make a transfer, because we are supplying Asia-Pacific markets out of Britain, [so the candidate] would assist in making a shift from Britain and supply out of the B&W Group Asia warehouse,' he said.

'It will be a huge challenge making sure we don't lose containers, so it is important that it is running smoothly from day one.'
