Songwriter: Joni Mitchell. 'I like intelligent singers/songwriters who have something to say.'

Reading: Lonely Planet Guide to Hong Kong. 'Useful, but it didn't tell me I was going to be in a crammed bar drinking endless cocktails last night.'

Dish: bean scenario. 'It's a vegetarian dish I created. It's basically everything in the kitchen cupboard - and beans.'

Costume designer: Alexis George. 'She's an Adelaide designer who does all my stage outfits - beautiful, well-made pieces.'

Shopping: vintage shops. 'I'm not much of an early-adopter, looking for the newest thing. I prefer finding my own style, in my own time.'
