Spend your free time wisely

Teenagers of today like playing computer games, watching television or chatting with friends on phone during their free time.

I think this might help relive some stress but it's not wise to use all our free time like that.

We can do a lot of meaningful things in our free time, like doing voluntary work.

We can kill two birds with one stone then and help the needy without spending money.

If we use our free time carefully, our life will become more meaningful.

Thanks for your letter, Janice. Most teenagers spend their free time surfing the internet, chatting with friends online and playing video games. It's all right to do so, but it should be done in moderation.

There are many other ways to relieve stress. You can hang out with friends, listen to music, play sports, go for a hike or take a long bath. That will ensure your mind is rested.

And as you've mentioned, doing voluntary work is a very meaningful way to spend your free time. There are a lot of children and elderly that need attention. And if you're an animal lover, you can work as a volunteer at the SPCA or Hong Kong Dog Rescue.

I spend my free time with my three doggies, since I work long hours and hardly ever get to play with them.

Spending time with your family is also important. Remember, time is precious so make sure your time is well spent.
