Longer hours

I REFER to Chan Mui-mui's letter headlined, ''Always full'' (South China Morning Post, February 4).

The need for students to use the public library study rooms to prepare for public examinations is always noted with concern.

From April to June every year, which is the public examination period, the opening hours of the Urban Council public library student study rooms are extended daily from 7am to 7pm.

During this period, admission tickets to the study rooms will be allocated only to students taking public examinations.

The opening hours are divided into three sessions to maximise usage.

According to our experience, outside the public examination period seats are generally not fully occupied, especially in the morning session.

There is therefore no need to use admission tickets, and the seats will be taken on a first come, first served basis.

Should your correspondent experience difficulty in using our study rooms, please contact the Assistant Librarian on duty for assistance.
