Despite the two-hour rescue of a dog stranded on a barge, it may still be put down unless its owner comes forward. The scavenging dog had jumped into the sea off To Kwa Wan to avoid capture by Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department officers. It had swum 200 metres to the barge and clung to a rubber tyre hanging over the side. After being rescued, the dog was taken to Kowloon Animal Management Centre, where it was treated for a leg injury. It will be held for four days before it is destroyed.
