Harbour activist eyes tourism seat
Harbour activist Paul Zimmerman has emerged as a possible candidate for the tourism constituency in the Legco elections in September.
The convenor of the lobby group Designing Hong Kong said yesterday he was 'actively considering' running for the seat, representing an industry that has traditionally been led by Liberal Party figures.
Its current lawmaker, Howard Young, is from the Liberal Party, and the Tourism Board is chaired by party chairman James Tien Pei-chun, who succeeded party vice-chairwoman Selina Chow Liang Shuk-yee.
Travel Industry Council executive director Joseph Tung Yao-chung is also a Liberal Party member and is expected to run for the tourism constituency.
Mr Zimmerman, a Civic Party member, would run 'from an industry point of view', not because he wanted to gain a seat for the pan-democrats, he said, either as an independent or under the lobby group.
