This week's question Which political leader do you admire the most?
Astha Agarwal, 14
Al Gore. I really admire what he's doing for the world. Global warming is a big problem for our planet and I think he has increased understanding and used his status to gain publicity for a very important cause. He is very determined and backs up his arguments with evidence. I really respect him for that.

I don't know much about political leaders but I admire Mao Zedong - before the cultural revolution, at least. Mao is both loved and loathed in the country he helped build. I admire him because in his early years, he gave the people of China a sense of nationalism and a hope to be freed from the warlords. He had a vision and a strong-willed ambition to help improve his country.

Gandhi's pacifism and non-violent techniques showed us a great vision - that all problems could be solved in a gentler manner rather than having to resort to aggressive methods. He stood up for what he thought was right and confronted his opposition. I like these traits in him as I believe in dealing with situations tactfully, without having to hurt anybody in the process. Standing up to someone can never be easy but at times, it has to be done.
