Motorola acquisitions lift mainland cable business
Communications equipment maker Motorola is expanding its mainland cable business by acquiring the digital cable set-top production assets of Zhejiang Dahua Digital Technology and its Hangzhou Image Silicon unit. The businesses will be integrated with Motorola's Home and Networks Mobility division. Digital cable subscriptions on the mainland are estimated to exceed 165 million by 2016, according to Motorola. Beijing Metro links with Andrew to boost wireless services
Rail operator Beijing Metro is adopting wireless networking systems from United States-based Andrew Corp to improve coverage and add network capacity in time for the Beijing Olympics. Rail passengers - including the 6.4 million visitors expected during the Games - with GSM, CDMA or GPRS-enabled mobile communications devices will benefit from the enhanced signal capabilities, while emergency personnel and railway employees will have dedicated networks, according to Andrew. China Public Security secures control of Wuda Geoinformatics
China Public Security Technology, a leading mainland provider of public security systems, has gained control of geographic information systems supplier Wuda Geoinformatics in a series of cash transactions worth 49.5 million yuan.
