Ultra-consistent Elfhelm will be resting comfortably at home in his box tonight with an unassailable lead in the Happy Valley Million Challenge, which concludes with the final four races at the city venue.

With 55 points derived from three victories and two placings from five attempts this season over the extended Valley mile, Elfhelm's already profitable term will be boosted tonight with a cheque to his owners, members of the Jackpot Syndicate, for HK$650,000.

However, the identities of the second and third placegetters in the challenge rest on tonight's action, with prize money of HK$250,000 and HK$100,000 respectively going to any two of 14 potential recipients.

Currently in second and locked on 36 points apiece are Californiamountain and Noble Conqueror, who will share the runners-up fund if results go their way and 12 race rivals fail.

The accompanying table shows the potential contenders for the HK$350,000 worth of HVMC bonuses.

Tiger Prawn is best placed on 30 points garnered from wins at both Valley starts earlier in the campaign, before being sidelined by a minor injury.

Victory in the seventh event will earn him a full 15 points and therefore the runner-up money.

Jockey Club chairman John Chan Cho-chak and chief executive Winfried Engelbrecht-Bresges will make the cheque presentations after the final event.

Note: Points are allocated according to the following system; first place - 15 points; second place - 6 points; third place - 4 points; fourth place - 3 points.

In case of a dead-heat in any of the first four placings, points will be divided by the number of horses involved.
