Warning on medicinal herbs

Health authorities issued a warning against careless use of herbs following a poisoning case in which four members of a family developed dizziness, palpitations, blurred vision and limb weakness. The Centre for Health Protection said a herbal soup they drank on Sunday contained the potentially deadly natural toxin gelsemine. The family bought Padix Fici Simplicissimae on the mainland and used it to make the soup.
