Samsung Electronics has upped the ante in Asia's pop-star phone rivalry with the Anycall F258, a slider handset designed for fans of South Korean singer-actor Rain (real name: Jung Ji-hoon). The F258, part of the MusiCall Series, is Samsung's answer to last year's limited-edition Motorokr E6 music smartphone, created by Motorola for admirers of Taiwanese pop star Jay Chou Jie-lun. The F258 camera-phone sports a metallic keypad, Rain's signature imprinted on the back, a one-touch music hot key, a 3.5mm stereo headset jack, an FM radio, a full MP3 track and ringtone of his hit song I'm Coming and screen wallpapers with his image. The handset, which weighs 97 grams and measures 94mm by 46mm by 17.5mm, has a 1.3-megapixel camera, an 18-megabyte internal memory and support for up to 2 gigabytes of external memory, Windows Media Player, a Web browser, a speakerphone and Edge cellular network support. The Anycall F258 costs HK$1,580.
