Whenever you shop, try to find out why. There are four main reasons why we shop:

Necessity: you buy things that you need in your daily life, such as healthy food, textbooks and transportation tickets.

Leisure: you go to shops to have a look or have a nice time with friends. But when you see a nice thing you don't really need, you still buy it. Keep your goals in mind!

Status: you buy an item because you want to be seen with it or because your friends have it. Ask yourself how you could show your personality or your belonging to a group without having to buy an item.

Passion: you buy things impulsively because they are too hard to resist. Whether they are games or clothes, draw up a budget with a limited amount for these items and keep a close eye on them.
