Museum of Art honours sculptor
One of this city's finest sculptors, Tong King-sum,  died last month. He was 68. Also a designer, Tong was respected by the local artist community for his generosity as well as his work.
'I  knew Tong for many years and  was very much impressed by his endeavours, not only in artistic creation but also as a man of endurance and persistence,' says chief curator  at the Hong Kong Museum of Art, Tang Hoi-chiu.
A retrospective, In Salute to Tong King Sum,  will be held at the museum from April 18 to May 22.
Tong is survived by his artist wife, Chiu Wai-yee.  Kevin Kwong
Dance awards 2008  announced
The Hong Kong Arts Festival, the Hong Kong Sinfonietta  and composer Chan Hing-yan  are among the 15 recipients of this year's Hong Kong Dance Awards.  The Arts Festival was awarded by the Hong Kong Dance Alliance  for last year's production of My Life as a Dancer,  which brought together 16 dancers from three generations.
The Sinfonietta shares the award with choreographer Yuri Ng Yue-lit  for their collaboration in A Soldier's Story while Chan is being recognised for his outstanding musical score for the City Contemporary Dance Company's (CCDC) Warrior Lanling.
Three other groups to pick up a gong are Hong Kong Ballet for  The Merry Widow, Hong Kong Dance Company for Qingming Riverside  and Manna Dance  for Private Landscape,  while Helen Lai Hoi-ling was awarded for her choreography for CCDC's HerStory.  The award ceremony will be held on April 2  at Kwai Tsing Theatre. Kevin Kwong
