Bouncing bunnies head for Plaza Hollywood
An 'Easter Bunny Land' has been set up in Plaza Hollywood in Diamond Hill.
The mini fun park will allow visitors to see a variety of different rabbits up close during the Easter holiday from today until Monday.
More than 50 different species of rabbit, including the mini-angora and Holland lop, will be on display at the fun park.
Pet lovers can bring their own rabbits and let them enjoy the toys and facilities there. They will even get the chance to adopt one of the rabbits on display.
On Monday, the shopping plaza will hold 'Rabbit Games', an athletic competition in which bunnies run races, hop barriers and perform high jumps.
Families can give abandoned rabbits a home after the animals have been examined by a member of the organising group, the Hong Kong Rabbit Society.
Adoption is free of charge and a lecture on how to look after the animals will be provided.
'We've seen an increase in the cases of abandoned rabbits. We received about 300 rabbits in 2007, which is almost the total number of abandoned rabbits from 2003 to 2006,' said Joanna Chow Yuk-ha, the society's communications manager.
'It's important for people to be prepared for keeping a rabbit. Their life span is usually seven to 10 years. People should think thoroughly and get their family's support before getting a rabbit.'
