Tightened security will be adopted for the Olympic Torch relay in Hong Kong after an abortive attempt to disrupt the Games on the mainland recently.

Details will be announced in the middle of next month, according to a security official, who said extra police would be one measure.

This month, mainland authorities thwarted an attempt to down an internal passenger flight en route to Beijing. A China Southern plane that left Xinjiang made an emergency landing in Gansu .
