Another chance for young artists to bloom

The Hong Kong Youth Arts Foundation's emerging-artists programme is on again for another year. With continued sponsorship from Bloomberg, the concept enters its second year of offering young creative talent a chance to explore and advance their works independently.

The platform allows those selected to work on their own to produce an original piece or collection over three months starting from June and to conclude with a solo exhibition. The foundation is particularly interested in projects that reflect its mission to engage and inspire young audiences. The deadline for applications is May 5.

The foundation is holding a briefing session at 6.30pm on April 14 at the Agnes b. Cinema in the Hong Kong Arts Centre. Guidelines and information will be provided by members of the foundation, the jury and last year's successful emerging-artists applicants. Placement reservations are required through [email protected].

Applicants must be at least 18. Successful tenders will have up to HK$100,000 for purchasing material plus a monthly stipend of HK$18,000. The completed project will be displayed in a public exhibition. General selection criteria include the project's potential to engage the community, its overall excellence, the seriousness of the artist's commitment, and the work's feasibility.

Application forms and details are available at www.hkyaf.com.
