The fifth anniversary of entertainer Leslie Cheung Kwok-wing's death was emotionally marked with two nights of concerts (March 31 and April 1) at the Hong Kong Coliseum. The concerts featured a large number of fellow artists and friends including Jacky Cheung Hok-yau, Elisa Chan Kit-ling, Winnie Hsin Hsiao-chi, William So Wing-hong, Anita Yuen Wing-yee and Deannie Yip Tak-han.

Even Tony Leung Chiu-wai showed up to sing an old hit by Cheung, who is affectionately known to many simply as 'Gor Gor' (older brother).

The emotional two nights saw plenty of tears, songs and one big revelation.

Leslie Cheung's close friend, television host Suzi Wong, explained that the Gor Gor nickname was actually the result of a mistake by actress Carina Lau Ka-ling.

'Carina moved into Cheung's neighbourhood one day and became our mahjong partner,' Wong began. 'The Gor Gor nickname was actually used for another person playing mahjong with us [Daffy Tong Hok-tak, Cheung's long-time partner].

'For a laugh, I told everyone if we don't tell Lau the truth, we could keep the joke on her. We've been laughing for almost 20 years now, but we didn't expect half of Hong Kong to also call Leslie Gor Gor.'
