Pick a skill and benefit
How time flies! I really can't believe that I've been playing the guitar for the past six months. During this time, I have learned many things about the instrument.
I always dreamed that I would play the guitar at a concert in front of an appreciative audience. Isn't it fantastic?
I usually spend my free time playing the guitar. It's so much fun and very relaxing. My father sings along while I play some familiar songs.
Although he doesn't follow the tempo of the song, we still enjoy the time we spend together.

Thank you for your letter, Emily. Your letter has shown that dreams can come true!
Learning a new skill is always fulfilling. Not only does it prove to yourself and others that you can improve yourself, it is a way of meeting new people and discovering new things about yourself and others.
What's more, if you choose a skill you want to learn, rather than one your parents or teachers think you should learn, you will be more likely to work hard and practise often.
Learning a new skill, as you have found, can also bring you closer to family and friends.
So whether it's a sport, a language or a musical instrument, why not choose a new hobby this summer? You may be surprised at the benefits it brings to your life.
