What is the philosophy behind your latest exhibition The Path of Heart, a showcase of bold brushstrokes and calligraphy?

Mainland calligrapher and painter Lou Zhenggang: 'It is 'write as you are, paint from the heart'. As an artist, I try to express my inner self through my work. People change every minute, even second. I try my best to capture the moment I change and present it in my works.

'Something happened to me 10 years ago that gave me a new perspective of the value and nature of life. The incident inspired the Life and Love series which was created from that period to 2002. At that time, someone I loved suddenly collapsed in front of me and I realised life was so fragile. Since then, I haven't thought too much about the future. I reckon I should live in the moment and live every day to the fullest.

'In the Qi Xi (Night of Seven) series, which was completed in 2005, I talk about things that are against each other but co-exist in the world, such as east and west, war and peace, nature and human. Conflicts and contradictions are produced between the two opposites, but at the same time it's important to reconcile them and achieve a balanced state.'
